I believe we're seeing the ascendance of an attitude that technological innovation is implicitly justified -- in other words: if it can be done, it should be done. The results of such an attitude often bring us disturbingly close to Pandora's Box territory given the scope of our current technological might.

Yes, I think there's lots of convergence here; It hasn’t found its way into any of my writing, but Buddhism has been a major influence for me as well, often informing my thinking on seemingly unrelated topics.
